In Kwadaso, Ashanti Region, a 24-year-old mobile money dealer named Junior was brutally murdered in his one-room apartment.

The victim was attacked by unknown assailants who allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money and ran away.

Inside his room, a puddle of blood revealed the body of the dead, who had a MoMo company at the Kwadaso Onion Market.

Because he frequently brought big amounts of cash home, witnesses think he might have been targeted.

According to a neighbor, “he usually brings home enormous amounts of money after closing from work.”

“He probably caught the attention of the robbers, leading to his attack.”

Despite starting an investigation into the incident, the police have not yet made any arrests.

Patricia Nimako, a 27-year-old MoMo vendor, was shot and killed at Krofrom in Kumasi last month; this tragedy comes after a similar incident. During that attack, mobile phones and GHS 10,000 were allegedly taken by armed robbers.

To combat the increased crime rate, Kwadaso residents are urging the Ashanti Regional Police Command to bolster security in the area.

A worried resident said, “We are living in fear right now, and we urge the police to beef up security in Kwadaso.”
