Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, a member of parliament for the Juaboso Constituency, has voiced his disapproval of the police hierarchy for approving the transfer of the Juaboso District Police Commander.
Mr. Akandoh specifically criticized Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), claiming that just eight days before the election, he had ordered the questionable transfer of the Juaboso area’s police chief.
Given that the new commander would not have much time to become acquainted with the large area, he questioned how such a transfer would be beneficial.
Given the “difficult terrain we have in Juaboso constituency,” the member claimed it was “unreasonable” for a District Commander to be moved to a different position.
“As a security capo [captain], you obviously need more than eight days to survey the system to be able to lead your security personnel into such a crucial election,” he added.
Even though he stated his commitment to ensuring peaceful elections in the region, Mr. Akandoh claimed the revisions had cast doubt on the IGP’s credibility.
