The Member of Parliament for Nsuta Kwamang Beposo Constituency and Dade3soabahemaa of Nsuta Tradional Area Hon Adeliade Ntim Yaa Agyeiwaa Okode3 has constructed a facility for farmers in her constituency to store their yam when they bring them to market.

The MP indicated in an interview with the media stressing the need for storage facilities to be constructed at the farm gates and warehouses in the cities for farm produce to curtail the rate at which foodstuffs were perishing.

According to her the project was done by request from the traders and farmers, “When you move to the farm gates, food is cheap because there is no storage facility at all so much of the food gets rotten at the farm gate, they at times carry the yam back home” she said.

The Member of Parliament indicated that the facility will also help to prevent post harvest losses as farmers will get place to store their foodstuffs when they come to market and could not sell all their farm products.

Maame Abena Mansah who spoke on behalf of the traders and the farmers expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for constructing the facility and promised to put it into good use to serve its purpose.

“Go to the market and see the amount of food that is rotten there, people bring these foods, pay transport cost on it and bring it to the market and it gets rotten.

“Even if it rots at the farm gate it is better than to bring it to the city because you’ll incur cost on it,” she thanked the MP for that kind gesture.
