As of today, May 18, 2025, there are four confirmed cases of Mpox across the nation after the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) confirmed two more cases.
The National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NPHRL) found one new case in the Greater Accra Region and another in the Western Region, the GHS said in a press release. According to preliminary evaluations, there is no known epidemiological connection between the recently confirmed cases and the previously reported cases.
To stop the spread, the corresponding Regional Health Directorates have swiftly implemented contact tracing and other public health measures.
Close contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated object can spread the virus that causes mpox.
Rash, fever, headache, back discomfort, muscular aches, low energy, and enlarged lymph nodes are typical symptoms.
