MTN announces appointment of executive: Sustainability & Shared Value

With effect from 1 September 2023, Marina Madale has been appointed by MTN Group as Group Executive: Sustainability & Shared Value. Prior to this, Marina worked for the MTN Group as the general manager of sustainability and shared value.

She will be in charge of creating the strategic direction for the administration of Sustainability and Shared Value as well as the activities of our foundations in all markets served by the MTN Group in her new position.

Marina has extensive experience in a variety of international industries, including oil and gas, energy, banking, and real estate development in nations including Qatar, Mozambique, Botswana, Gabon, South Africa, and Australia. She was a key contributor to the creation of the first community Local Development Agreements and Local Content strategy for Mozambique’s oil and gas industry. She had a number of top positions before joining MTN at Sasol.

The development of the Group’s science-based goals for net-zero emissions, MTN’s first-ever report on digital human rights transparency, and the first-ever pan-African MTN Skills Academy are just a few of Marina’s major accomplishments within MTN.

and communities alike,” declared Nompilo Morafo, chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer for MTN Group.

In addition to having a Bachelor of Social Science in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Marina also has a Master of Communications from Bond University in Australia.
