The Giant Telecommunications in Ghana MTN has donated an amount of GHC30,000 to the Kumasi Children’s Home as part of their social responsibility as a company.
Making the presentation at the orphanage centre near Kumasi Airport, the Acting General Manager for MTN’s Northern Business District; Simon Amoh revealed that the donation was in fulfilment of a promise made through the proceeds from the “Ghana Stands in Worship Concert” for charity.
According to him, the Kumasi Children’s Home made an official request to MTN for help hence the decision to make them beneficiaries of this gesture.
He revealed that few other orphanages will receive donations from the giant telecommunications service provider ahead of the yuletide.
Mr. Amoh stated that MTN is a telecommunication company with a heart for her customers and the plight of the less fortunate. He hoped that the donation would impact the orphanage’s operations positively.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the orphans was the Manageress of Kumasi Children’s Home Mrs. Mabel Amponsah thanked MTN for their kind gesture.
She also uses the opportunity to drew some challenges of the home and stated that the donation was timely. She also promised MTN Ghana that the money will be put to good use to benefit the 77 children being housed there. She disclosed that there are currently 30 females and 47 males at the facility who range between the ages of 3-weeks old and 28 years.
it’s a government-supported facility, she said support from individuals and benevolent organizations helps to cater for pressing needs.
She stated that though they receive government support but the support from donors like MTN and other non-governmental organizations and donors help deal with some of their pressing needs.
