Specially prepared hampers have been provided by MTN Ghana to babies born on Christmas Day at some medical facilities around the nation.
About 3,500 hampers have been given to children born on Christmas Day as a result of this project, which started in 2011.
Mrs. Charity Darko, Corporate Services Advisor at MTN Northern Business District, told reporters that 30 hospitals had been chosen for the statewide delivery after presenting hampers to 22 babies born on Christmas Day at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
On Christmas Day, she said, 260 hampers with toys, diapers, detergents, baby clothing, and basic toiletries were being distributed to newborns.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, MTN donates to babies born on Christmas Day. This year, the company is donating 600 packages to 30 hospitals throughout Ghana. This information was provided by Mrs. Darko.
She said that MTN distributed 100 more hampers this year than it did the previous year, with the main goal being to make moms who gave birth on Christmas Day smile.
Madam Gifty Serwaah Adu, the nursing manager for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at KATH, expressed gratitude to MTN representatives for the donation.
She revealed that there were no casualties during the usual delivery of the 22 infants born at KATH on December 25 and 26.
Madam Adu also mentioned that many moms in the maternity wards have trouble paying their expenses after giving birth, so she appealed for help.
She also urged other business entities to visit the maternity units and assist moms with the cost of care and births, as many of them are unable to pay their bills, as MTN Ghana has done since 2011.
