To commemorate its 30th anniversary, MTN Ghana has extended “21 Days of Y’ello Care,” an annual staff volunteer program, to a month-long event named “30 Days of Y’ello Care.”
The announcement was made in Kumasi by Nii Adortey Mingle, General Manager of MTN’s Northern Sector.
According to him, the focus of this year’s theme, “Education For Rural And Remote Communities – Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow,” is closing the educational gap in underprivileged areas throughout MTN’s service area.
In a project known as “Quench and Connect,” MTN Ghana Volunteers will drill boreholes in select Senior Secondary Schools as part of their flagship campaign, according to Nii Adortey Mingle.
He clarified that the boreholes would be drilled in a few schools in each of Ghana’s sixteen water-crises regions.
‘We hope that providing these boreholes will alleviate the burden on the beneficiary schools and allow students to focus on their studies,’ he assured.
Employees can actively participate in community development projects throughout MTN’s operational countries through the company-wide employee volunteer program, MTN Y’ello Care. Millions of people and hundreds of communities throughout the continent have benefited from the program since its launch in 2007.
MTN Ghana staff members are prepared to have a long-lasting effect on isolated and rural communities as the 30 Days of Y’ello Care Challenge officially begins today.
