With the goal of collecting 6,110 units of blood to support the National Blood Service and regional hospitals, the MTN Ghana Foundation hosted its annual “Save a Life” blood donation campaign on Friday, February 14.
More than 29,000 units have been donated by the campaign since it began in 2011 to help with the country’s blood shortage.
All 16 regions participated in the donation drive, with the Ashanti Region organizing events at Bonwire, KNUST, and Asanteman Senior High School in collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s Blood Bank Unit (KATH).
Simon Amoh, Senior Manager of General Trade at MTN in Northern Ghana, underlined the company’s dedication to healthcare and urged people to give blood on Valentine’s Day in order to save lives.
“If people stay healthy that is where they are able to undertake economic activities and get commercial minds to patronise our products and services”, he noted.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuing the program, highlighting how it supports the MTN Ghana Foundation’s health pillar.
The project is “Save a Life” and encourages people to celebrate love meaningfully by donating blood to help save lives. Initially launched as an MTN staff initiative, the exercise has since expanded to include business partners, agencies, and the general public.
