MTN has invested $25m in ICT to empower youth

MTN Leading telecommunications company in Ghana has invested $25 million in Ghana’s ICT AP to assist the country’s digital goal and give the youth more influence.

At the MTN 2023 Media and Stakeholders Forum at the Greenwood Event Center in Kumasi, Mr. Daniel Asare, the Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN Ghana, disclosed the information.

 

The purpose of the Forum, which had as its theme “Leveraging technology to serve customers through media excellence,” was to share an overview of the cutting-edge products that MTN is developing.

He emphasized once more that everyone should profit from a modern, linked world.

According to him, the MTN new rebrand campaign was launched with the slogan “let’s go beyond doing let’s outdo ourselves,” with the intention of outperforming themselves.

He said putting control in the hands of customerswas really working for them.

Approximately 4.5 million Ghanaians’ lives had been impacted by the MTN Foundation’s about Ghs93 million investment in social impact programs, he claimed.

According to Mr. Asare, MTN is on track to invest $1 billion in Ghana over a period of five years. He stated that the Company was working with Vodafone Ghana to promote industry viability and assure merchant interoperability, both of which were crucial for all stakeholders as they continued to expand their mechanized footprints so that others might join the ecosystem.

According to him, MTN will give the government approximately four billion Ghana Cedis in 2022.

He claimed that in order to mature, MTN Ghana’s digital ambition was going through major changes.

Process-centricity, customer-centricity, multichannel, and omnichannel are the four major shifts.

According to the Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer, MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) today has over 140,000 active merchants and 280,000 agents.

According to Mr Asare the MTN Foundation has enhanced its focus on digital inclusion projects such as Robotics labs, e-Libraries and others.

Over year period from 2020 to 2022 the Foundation has committed approximately Ghc 15m to digital initiatives that is Dansoman Robotics Lab, Oda Multipurpose Library & Robotics Centre, Denkyira Buabinso integrated Library, Mamfe Girls Robotics Lab which is ongoing and it is at 70% completion, Youth Entrepreneurship Project in partnership with Plan Ghana and MTN Ghana Enterprise Programme in partnership with Innohub Foundation which is ongoing.
