For pre-paid customers who buy airtime from shops, MTN Ghana has implemented an Electronic Voucher Distribution (EVD) Denomination Change that would ensure they get the exact amount they paid for.
Retailers won’t be able to overcharge customers for purchasing electronic credit transfer thanks to the EVD Denomination Change program. Customers of MTN can buy airtime from any EVD seller (credit transfer agent) in person, and the equivalent amount will be electronically sent to them.
After the EVD Denomination Change was put into effect, credit transfer could only be purchased starting at 0.5ghc and in multiples of Ghc1 up to Ghc500.
The method forbids shops from raising prices for customers while devaluing the airtime.
Shaibu Haruna, the Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of MTN Ghana, commented on the initiative. “As a customer-centric company, we are committed to providing distinct customer experience in every facet of our business. This issue of EVD price disparity has been a challenge and impacted our customer experience especially when MTN stopped printing recharge vouchers due to the COVID-19 pandemic”.
“We have our customers at heart, and we are always working to find innovative solutions that address issues that pose a challenge to them. We strongly believe the introduction of the EVD Denomination Change will prevent over pricing and reduce EVD pricing complaints”. He stated.
MTN urges customers to insist on the amount they spend and warns vendors against adding extra fees for EVD transactions because those prices are already included in the system.
Customers who experience overcharging could either visit any MTN center or phone the Call Cantre toll-free number 100 to file a complaint.
Every time an MTN client recharges their account using the EVD, they receive a 50% bonus that may be applied to both On-Net and Off-Net activities.
Customers can electronically top up (recharge) their accounts for phone calls, data bundles, or SMS using the Electronic Voucher Distribution (EVD), sometimes known as “Credit Transfer” in the Ghanaian market.
To purchase any required airtime, MTN customers can go to any EVD seller (credit transfer agency).
