MTN Ghana has once again shown its dedication to helping local communities by commemorating Eidul Fitr with generous donations to the Office of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, and the Ashanti, Western, and Northern Regions’ Regional Chief Imams.
A group from MTN came to the Office of the National Chief Imam to donate money and food to help with the celebrations. The Ashanti, Western, and Northern regions’ regional chief imams also received similar funds to help plan Eid festivities in their communities.
Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer of MTN Ghana, stressed the importance of Eidul Fitr during the presentation in Accra. He pointed out that the festival emphasizes characteristics of peace, compassion, and giving that are consistent with MTN’s brand values and is a time for introspection, unity, and gratitude.
During and after the festivities, Ibrahim Misto reassured guests of MTN’s dedication to enhancing the customer experience.
Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu acknowledged the beneficial effects that such donations have on the impoverished and conveyed his sincere gratitude for MTN Ghana’s yearly gesture while accepting the donation in Accra. He underlined that deeds of kindness benefit both the giver and the recipient “This act of kindness helps uplift the less privileged and strengthens community bonds” he said.
In the Western region, Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Suleymana Ahmed Mozu, expressed gratitude to MTN for their ongoing support of Muslims in Ghana upon receiving the donated items. He stated, “We are extremely grateful for this act of kindness. MTN’s yearly support to the Muslim community demonstrates the company’s goodwill and commitment to building a strong society.”
Similar donations were also made to the Chief Imams of the Ashanti and Northern regions.
In addition to the donations, MTN also assisted in organizing the National Sallahfest Cultural Night in Accra Newtown, as well as Sallafest durbars in Kumasi and Kasoa during the celebrations.
As part of MTN’s commitment to brighten lives of its customers, MTN also established service stands at key locations during the celebration. These stands provided essential services, such as SIM swaps and Mobile Money registration and transactions, as well as also educating customers on preventing Mobile Money fraud.
For 17 years, MTN has provided support to the Muslim community during Eidul Fitr celebrations through donations and the organization of events in Nima, Accra New Town, Kumasi, Kasoa, and Tamale.
