Manhyia South Constituency Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has started constructing a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) District Office in Manhyia.

The NPP government’s efforts to improve healthcare services by increasing access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) nationwide are part of the groundbreaking ceremony that took place on Wednesday.

In his remarks, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized the importance of the project and said that the new office will help Manhyia and the surrounding villages’ citizens, particularly vulnerable groups, who now have to travel far to receive NHIS services.

“This edifice, when completed, will reduce the stress residents go through to access NHIS services in other districts.

It will also relieve the overburdened surrounding insurance schemes, thereby enhancing the quality of work. More residents will now be able to register and access healthcare with their NHIS cards,” he said.

In order to provide accessibility for everyone, Dr. Opoku Prempeh praised the traditional authorities for giving land for the project in a strategic location.

Louisa Atta-Agyemang, the NHIA’s deputy chief executive officer, also spoke at the ceremony, highlighting how the project will enhance service delivery.

“The citizens of this district will receive better service thanks to the new office, which will enable our service providers to carry out their responsibilities successfully and efficiently.

We’re determined to take all the required steps to have this facility up and running and customer-focused,” she promised.
