Napo files nomination forms to contest Manhyia South seat

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a member of parliament representing the Ashanti Region’s Manhyia South Constituency, has submitted his papers for nomination to run in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

His filing marks his fifth attempt to win the seat since Manhyia was the constituency’s name in 2008. He has served as the constituency’s longest-serving member of parliament by winning every contest.

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, filed the nomination at Ashanti New Town’s newly built constituency office.

The nomination form and filing fee costs totaled GH¢3,000 and GH¢35,000, respectively, which were attached to his forms.

NAPO, as he is referred to in the political community, thanked the constituents for their unwavering support while presenting his forms.

Speaking humbly to the party’s supporters and constituency executives, NAPO could not contain his gratitude for “making me what I am today.”

“I have been running for the four conservative terms as the MP because of your unwavering support.” I have held all of my ministerial portfolios thanks to your (supporters’) assistance. NAPO remarked solemnly, “I am proud of you and I will always be grateful to you.

In addition, the former minister of education used the occasion to ask the delegates for their approval to run for office in the January 27, 2024, parliamentary primary.

“I’m here to turn in my completed nomination forms and payment.” Additionally, I would like to ask for your customary support and votes in the upcoming parliamentary primaries. Hon. NAPO pleaded, “I will keep giving it my all to help you improve the lives in the constituency.

After receiving the forms, Mr. Richard Ofori Atta, the chairman of the Manhyia South constituency, thanked Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for fulfilling the party’s contest obligations.

Mr. Richard Ofori Atta emphasized that nomination forms will not be stopped by constituency executives, and he added that the office is open to anyone who is interested in doing so.
