The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has pledged that anyone involved in the contentious National Cathedral project will face legal action in the upcoming NDC administration.

Speaking at a campaign stop at Kaase, in the Ashanti Region’s Asokwa Constituency, Mr. Nketia reaffirmed his party’s commitment to holding those responsible for the project’s alleged corruption and abuse of power accountable.

His comments come after the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) suggested that the initiative be subject to a forensic audit and that its trustees be prosecuted.

Significant concerns about money mismanagement and power abuse by several project participants were found during CHRAJ’s inquiry.

Asiedu Nketia declared that the National Cathedral project, which he characterized as a representation of poor management and misaligned objectives under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, would not be pursued by an NDC-led government.

“If we win in the December elections, we will make sure that everyone who was involved in the National Cathedral project’s financial mismanagement or abuse of power is held responsible and faces consequences,” he said.

In order to rebuild confidence in national institutions and protect the nation’s financial stability, the NDC chairman restated his party’s dedication to openness, responsible governance, and the prudent use of public funds.
