A huge, undisclosed quantity of US dollars and Ghanaian cedis, including counterfeits, were found concealed in twelve 20-foot shipping containers during a significant bust by national security.
Following a tip-off, a special operation was carried out at a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga West Municipality, where the containers were traced.
Wooden bins containing cement were discovered to contain the deftly hidden money, which was primarily bundles of US dollars.
Additional currency was found hidden in the plywood-barricaded, charcoal-ceilinged boxes when other boxes in the warehouse were inspected during the sting operation.
State security trackers are pursuing two containers that are still at large, according to the national security personnel working the operation.
In the meantime, four suspects, including a ringleader who goes as Alhaji, are the target of a manhunt.
Even more startling finds were made in the warehouse, including boxes of metals thought to be gold bars, fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots, and counterfeit 50 and 100 denomination Ghana cedi notes.
