The National Service Authority (NSA) has instructed all Heads of Department (HoD) and Unit Regional Directors to cancel the appointments of all NSA volunteers across the country.

Mr. Felix Gyamfi, Director General, NSA, signed a letter dated February 21, 2025, conveying this information.

“As part of the restructuring of our volunteer program in National Service Authority (NSA), the appointments of all volunteers in our offices will be terminated effective February 28, 2025,” the letter explained.

The termination will impact everyone, according to the authorities, “with the exception of districts that have one staff managing it; those managing vacant districts should have one assistant, cleaner, catering and the farms.”

“We want to express our gratitude for their dedication, hardwork and commitment to NSA.”

“HoDs, Unit Heads and Regional Directors must ensure that all property belonging to NSA such as laptops, documents, motor bikes are returned to NSA by the end of the deadline,” the letter added.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) on July 18th 2024 started recruiting National Service graduates and unemployed youth to serve as volunteers for six (6) months.

According to the scheme, the decision was made considering the numerous applications received from the youth, as it aimed to address the issue of youth unemployment in the country.

In a statement announcing the recruitment in Accra on Thursday, the NSS said “The recruitment will focus on various models including sanitation, teaching, agriculture, health and other sectors aligned with the Government’s efforts to promote environmental health, cleanliness, and sustainable development.”

“An online application system will be operational soon on the Scheme’s website to facilitate the selection process. We encourage you to spread awareness about this opportunity among potential candidates in your region/district and provide necessary guidance and support throughout the application process.”
