The Military High Command and the Management of the National Service Authority (NSA) have begun to discuss the implementation of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), a new program designed to provide National Service Personnel (NSPs) with fundamental military training.

The gathering, which took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, is consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s goal of fostering among Ghanaian graduates a sense of discipline, patriotism, and physical health.

The program was initially revealed by the President on Thursday, February 27, 2025, during his first State of the Nation Address to Parliament.

NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi stressed the value of the training program in creating a more resilient and patriotic youth population during his remarks at the meeting.

“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he said.

In order to promote a spirit of national development, Gyamfi reaffirmed that all national service members will participate in orientation and basic military exercises as part of their service experience.

On behalf of the Military High Command, Brig. Gen. Amoah-Boakye promised the Ghana Armed Forces’ backing for the initiative.

He gave the Authority his word that they will be prepared to provide the required training when the program formally launches.

Composite basic military drills will be given to individuals for a maximum of two months; training is anticipated to start on August 3, 2025.
