NCA rolls out punitive measures on unregistered SIM cards

Mobile network operators (MNOs) will begin placing some service limits on unregistered SIM cards as of, Monday, September 5, 2022.

This was stated in a press release issued by the National Communications Authority and signed by Joe Anokye, the NCA’s acting director-general.

Excerpts from the order state that every day, all outgoing calls from unregistered SIMs and Stage 1 registered SIMs will be re-routed to receive a message before they are processed.

Additionally, data services and outgoing calls will be restricted for two days on a rotating basis.

All unregistered SIM cards will be disabled after September 30.

Users of MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo, Glo, Telesol, Surfline, and Busy SIM cards would be included in this.
