All campaigning by sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) has been suspended by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with immediate effect until the end of the month, March 31, 2023.

The decision was made, according to a statement issued by the party and signed by its National Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, following a meeting of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on March 7, 2023.

“All sitting NDC MPs, shall be required to attend all Parliamentary sittings.  No NDC MP shall undertake any travel that will affect his or her attendance in Parliament” the statement added.

It also stated that the choice, known as “Operation Save Our Democracy,” was made in support of the parliamentary minority caucus.

By this order, all electoral operations in all constituencies with NDC MPs in office are halted.

The announcement also stated that the deadlines for submitting nominations, vetting candidates for elected office, and holding elections will not alter.
