Assin Central Constituency Secretary Sadique Broni Yeboah and Central Regional Chairman Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu have been suspended for one month by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to accusations of anti-party behavior.
Following a contentious discussion with the party’s national executives, the FEC, and Assin Central executives, this decision was made.
The main agenda item for the meeting was Nurein Shiabu Migyimah’s resignation as the party’s Assin Central parliamentary candidate (PC) as a result of charges of unethical behavior and anti-party activities.
Following an examination into complaints made against him, including claims that he had impregnated the wife of the party’s Assin Central General Secretary, Mijimah was suspended by the NDC’s Central Regional Functional Executive Committee.
But NDC General Secretary Fifi Kwetey recently declared that “the letter originating from the Secretariat of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw the candidacy of the said Assin Central candidate, Comrade Migyimah and further suspending his membership of the party, is null and void, and stands withdrawn” following a meeting at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
“Accordingly, Comrade Migyimah remains the NDC Parliamentary Candidate of Assin Central for the upcoming general elections in December 2024” he affirmed.
Migyimah was first suspended by the Regional FEC on June 28 and was to remain out of commission for six months while the Regional Disciplinary Committee looked into the matter.
In order to resolve concerns that Migyimah’s candidacies withdrawal went against due process, the NDC leadership then called a meeting with the Central Regional Chairman.
