On Saturday, May 13, 2023, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries to choose its flag bearer for the 2024 general election and parliamentary candidates.
Fifi Kwetey, the NDC’s general secretary, made this announcement during a news conference held at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
The nominations will be filled between Wednesday, February 22 and Friday, February 24, according to Mr. Kwetey.
He further stated that the dates from Monday, March 20, 2023, to Wednesday, March 22, 2023, will also be used for the submission and filing of forms.
He acknowledged that a nomination cost of GH30,000 and a filing fee of GH500,000 had been recommended for the candidates running for president.
In the meanwhile, the NEC of the NDC has urged everyone who has indicated interest in running as a flag bearer or a candidate for parliamentary office to do so with decorum and free of slurs, allegations, and insults.
Three people’s names have so far been mentioned in connection with the presidential race: Kojo Bonsu, a former metropolitan chief executive of Kumasi; Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former minister of finance; and John Dramani Mahama, a former president.
