The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) leadership has been called to a meeting by the National Labour Commission (NLC) for Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
This comes after the association was worried about the composition of the committee that was established to handle their grievances, thus they boycotted the prior meeting on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Citing displeasure with the composition of the panel, CLOGSAG’s absence from the first meeting was linked to the start of their strike.
Ofosu Asamoah, the executive secretary of the NLC, responded by confirming that the panel’s composition is being reviewed and highlighting how crucial it is that CLOGSAG attend the next meeting.
“Upon their notice, we requested the ministries involved to respond as well as the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor who is leading the ministerial committee on the negotiation, which they duly did. A meeting was scheduled, and they wrote to us challenging the constitution of the panel,”Mr. Asamoah explained.
“The commission has looked at it and we have been directed to respond, referencing them to sections 136 and 178 of the Labour Act, and reschedule a meeting for July 10. Meanwhile, they are to call off the strike,” he added.
Mr. Asamoah urged the organization to accept the next invitation, emphasizing the importance of communication in effectively addressing and resolving the requests and concerns of CLOGSAG members.
