The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that the loss of its Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) would not jeopardize the integrity of the elections in 2024.
Five Electoral Commission employees have been placed under arrest in connection with the purported theft of several Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs).
The suspects have been turned over to the police for additional investigation, according to the EC.
“This is not the first time that an item is missing from the Electoral Commission. People have been prosecuted and jailed but it didn’t compromise the integrity of our activities,” On Tuesday, April 16, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the director of electoral services of the Electoral Commission (EC), stated on the Asaase Breakfast Show.
Thus, our system’s integrity is unaffected by external events. He told presenter Kwaku Nhyira-Addo, “Nobody can use stolen material to interfere in the electoral processes.”
