Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has addressed the finance of the Hajj Village, claiming that the facility is being created by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) without any public payments.
In a statement released on X, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu repeated the government’s stance on the project, debunking claims that public funds were being used for its construction.
His explanation coincides with increased discussion and interest in the project’s goals and funding sources.
On Friday, February 28, President John Dramani Mahama formally laid the groundwork for the new Hajj Village.
The building is intended to assist Muslims from Ghana who are making the holy journey to Mecca.
Additionally, President Mahama has revealed intentions to airlift 5,000 pilgrims from Ghana as part of this year’s Hajj arrangements.
The Hajj Village’s development attempts to improve organization and efficiency, giving pilgrims a more seamless departing experience.
