The National Petroleum Authority’s(NPA) Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has stated that his organization will not spare organizations or persons involved in the illicit gasoline trade.
In order to ensure that gasoline sales and transportation are conducted legally, he said the Authority would enforce its mission strictly.
During his familiarization tour in the area, the NPA Boss spoke to the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and listed some of the illegal fuel trading practices, including smuggling fuel, selling tainted fuel, operating with an expired license, and operating without the necessary safety standards.
Regional ministers nationwide were urged by Mr. Tameklo to refrain from stepping in to defend dishonest fuel dealers.
He claimed that there was a propensity for persons to attempt to persuade NPA personnel to commit crimes by disguising themselves as political parties; he added that this practice would not be tolerated.
“We must support President Mahama’s agenda of resetting the economy for growth and prosperity for all.
“If you plead on behalf of these criminals who are not playing by the rules at the expense of the reset agenda, who will you call when you buy bad fuel in your car?” he quipped.
Collaborative efforts between the NPA, National Security, and other security agencies have significantly reduced the threat of supply leaks, including export dumping, in the nation, according to the NPA CE.
The NPA CEO visited the Bono and Ashanti regions for three days to become acquainted with some petroleum sites, which included the meeting with the Bono Regional Security Council.
On Wednesday, the Authority’s CEO and management made their first visit to the Bono Regional Coordinating Council and paid the Omanhene of Sunyani a courtesy call in an attempt to win his cooperation for addressing the region’s fuel supply and export issues.
