NPP chooses Baba Ali for the Ayawaso East by-election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nominate Baba Ali Yussif as its representative for the forthcoming Ayawaso East by-election.

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Divine Agorhom, confirmed that the selection was made considering experience, humility, and the capability to rally support swiftly.

He states that the party intentionally chose a candidate who comprehends its internal dynamics and can collaborate effectively with members throughout the organization.

“We want somebody who has the party experience, who will work within the party, somebody who is known within the party and somebody who has the humility and the ability to knock doors, go to everybody and work such that we will be able to help him within this small period of time and get the constituency to accept him,” he said.

Mr. Agorhom stated that following discussions, the party leaders believed Baba Ali satisfied all the requirements.

“The gentleman we settled on appears to have ticked all these boxes, and for that, we think that we are good to go. We have decided to settle on the constituency secretary in the person of Baba Ali,” he added.

He pointed out that Baba Ali has held the position of constituency secretary twice and has the trust of all the constituency leaders.

“He’s been our constituency secretary twice, and the entire constituency leadership has agreed that we should go with him,” Mr Agorhom said.

At the same time, six candidates have obtained nomination forms to run in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East in preparation for the March 3 by-election.

The list features the party’s constituency chairman, Mohammed Ramme; Hajia Amina Adam, spouse of the deceased Member of Parliament; Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal; along with Dr Yakubu Azindow.
