Kennedy Agyapong, the well-known politician who came in second in the party’s presidential election last Saturday, was taken aback by a surprise visit from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the recently elected flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This was a calculated political action.

With the 2024 election drawing near, the aim of the Wednesday night dinner gathering was to fortify the friendship between the two influential figures and to promote collaboration for the benefit of the nation.
The two politicians were friendly until they made camp opposite one other.

In an attempt to mend fences and foster unity prior to the 2024 elections, Dr. Bawumia is expected to visit other NPP candidates and opinion leaders.

Unexpectedly paying a visit to his primary rival in the NPP presidential race, Dr. Bawumia demonstrated his strong commitment to preserving unity inside the party and beyond the political spectrum.

The politicians, who were each portraying a different character, took advantage of the opportunity to engage in a cordial discussion during which they stressed their shared goals and commitment to working together for the benefit of the nation and for the NPP to retake power by “breaking the 8.”

During the informal meeting, Vice President Dr. Bawumia and Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Ken Agyapong praised and acknowledged each other for their individual efforts to the party and the country.

They both felt that maintaining a strong alliance inside the NPP was essential, particularly in light of the impending elections and the need for a united front.

The two politicians talked about how to address the major problems affecting the nation, garner support from the people, and promote party unity.

They agreed to collaborate closely on several projects aimed at advancing economic development, social welfare, and responsible governance.
