The New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to President Akufo-Addo, has a history of boosting Ghana’s economy whenever it is in trouble.
The President mentioned that the NPP removed Ghana from HIPC and a “derailed IMF accord in 2015 under John Mahama” during the John Agyekum Kufuor government.
President Akufo-Addo claimed the NPP “has done it before [fixed the economy] and believe me, we are going to do it again” on Saturday at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Accra.
“We inherited a failed IMF program from the Mahama administration when we took office.
Up to the Covid events and its aftermath, we had worked hard to get the country out of the program and were in the midst of developing a robust economy.
“By doing this,we will create a robust economy that will serve as a foundation for our victory in 2024. It is our historical responsibility to keep the NPP in power with a new candidate and leader but with the same dedication” he said.
