The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has disclosed that many NPP followers are quietly advocating for the party’s defeat in the general elections of 2024.
He claims that a lot of NPP members think a small group of people are taking over the nation at the expense of the majority.
According to Mr. Mahama, these unhappy NPP members are demanding his return to presidency so the party can restructure.
Speaking to party supporters over the weekend while on a visit of the Upper East, the NDC flagbearer disclosed, “In Ghana, it is not the NPP, it is a small family that has captured everything. And so, I can tell you, there are many of my friends in the NPP who come and tell me, they say ‘NDC, you have to do well and get our party out of power.
“These are NPP people because the NPP has been captured by a small group of people. This is not Kufuor’s NPP. This is a different NPP. It has been hijacked by some people and so the democrats and others in NPP want the party to lose. So that they can go back into opposition and reorganise.”
He called Ghana’s economic situation “worse off” when compared to other African nations.
Nigerians are demonstrating in large numbers in the streets. You may have heard of Kenya, where young people are demonstrating because they are not getting the opportunity they deserve. Ghana’s condition is worse,” he remarked.
