The Electoral Commission (EC) has released a statement in response to a video that has been making the rounds on social media and features a person claiming that the incumbent won the unofficial results of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Yendi Constituency.

To be clear, the Electoral Commission has not released any results for the Yendi Constituency in the just finished NPP parliamentary elections.

785 of the 794 registered voters in the constituency cast ballots, according to a statement from the Electoral Commission, which was signed by Michael Boadu, Acting Head of Public Affairs for the Commission. But when the Presiding Officer reached 296 votes in favor of the incumbent, Farouk Allu Mahama, there was a pause in the counting process.

Regretfully, 489 of the remaining ballots were destroyed before the counting could be finished, which prevented the Presiding Officer from concluding the collation and announcing the final results.

As a result, the Electoral Commission formally distances itself from the hasty results announcement.

The public is urged by the Commission to ignore any unofficial announcements and to hold off on making any decisions until the official results are made public.

The Commission, according to their statement, has not commented on the results of the NPP parliamentary primary in the Yendi Constituency.

The Electoral Commission declared that it is still dedicated to maintaining the electoral process’s integrity, fairness, and accuracy and that it will keep up its diligent work to guarantee that the public’s will is honored and reflected in all election outcomes.
