Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer candidate, has stated his desire that his party will elect him as its flagbearer in order to guide them to election victory in 2028.
He appealed to the rank and file of the NPP to honour him with the opportunity to lead both the party and Ghanaians toward what he described as ‘a future that will be better than the present and the past.’
“My party, give me the opportunity; provide the bridge for me to cross to the other side and once we get to the other side of the river, we are going to lead Ghanaians. We will let Ghanaians know that our future is going to be better than the present and the past,” he stated.
Speaking to his supporters on Thursday, August 14, 2025, following the pickup of his candidacy forms, Dr. Adutwum described his vision and his commitment to guiding the nation to its “promised land,” one free from poverty and misery.
“We are on track and by the grace of God, my party, I believe, will vote for me and make me the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and after that, we’ll be on the journey to the promised land.
“The land that our nation has been yearning for in years; our nation will become a prosperous one. Our nation will wage war against poverty and win; poverty and deprivation will be over,” he said in a video shared by JoyNews.
If elected as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections, Dr. Adutwum, who was the previous NPP administration’s Minister of Education, stated that his presidency would concentrate on ensuring that all citizens profit from the nation’s developments.
“That is what the campaign of 2028 will be about. It will be about a country that had independence many years ago. We’ve done our very best from the first president to the current president, each one of them has done something great. Yet, we have a lot more to do and that is what the Adutwum’s presidency will be about,” he stated.
