The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stopped a group known as the ‘Bawumia Fun Club’ from picking up the presidential nomination forms for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

In order to help the NPP break the 8 and maintain control in the 2024 elections, the group headed by its founder, Ntim Jakari, said that Dr. Bawumia deserves to be chosen as its leader.

The group then paid the GH50,000 nomination fee on the candidate’s behalf.

In an interview with media, Mr. Jakari stated that Dr. Bawumia is the only NPP member who possesses the ability to transform the nation.

“The Bawumia Fun Club decided that we will pay and go and present it to their father and our President to be. He is not aware we are doing this. We are taking him by surprise. After payment, we are going to the Jubilee House to present it to him,” Mr Jakari said.

But the General Secretary of the NPP Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong said they need to get the consent of the vice president Dr Mahamamudu Bawumia before the nomination forms can be given to the group.

The NPP allowed candidates who wanted to head the party into the 2024 elections to choose their candidacy forms on Friday, May 26.

Nomination forms may be received from the Office of the General Secretary at the Party Headquarters, Asylum Down, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday), according to a statement released by the party on Thursday.
