Nyamekrom Chief and Assembly Member organizes massive clean-up exercise

On Saturday, July 22, Nyamekrom residents started a massive cleanup effort to clear the area of garbage and stop the breakout and spread of disease.

The Chief of Nyamekrom, Nana Kwame Nnro Agyapong II, and Assemblyman for Nyamekrom Electoral Area, Hon. Enoch Boahene, sponsored the extensive cleanup operation.

More than 200 locals, including opinion leaders, cleaned and burned trash, cleaned clogged gutters, and patched minor potholes on their road going to Koforidua.

The area’s Assembly representative assured journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM that the initiative would continue and that it would be made a priority to promote a culture of cleanliness among the populace.

He lauded the active participation of the people and urged them to keep the spirit up.

He said that filthy environment is the cause of diseases such as malaria thus, the cleaning will help eradicate the menace of such disease.

Hon. Enoch Boahene mentioned that, as patriotic citizens, we are responsible for the society and making of our environment a better place to live in.

The assembly member in an interview, he commended the chief for his immense contribution in a quest for achieving unity and development for the good people of Nyamekrom.

For his part, Nana Kwame Nnro Agyapong II, the chief of Nyamekrom stressed that, the clean-up exercise, which was aimed at contributing to the National Sanitation Agenda of ensuring a cleaner Ghana saw an enthusiastic participation from members of the community.

He emphasized that the importance of keeping a clean and healthy environment while positively impacting the communities they lives in.

He further encouraged the general public to change their attitude towards waste management and to do their best at contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for posterity.

Bemoaning the poor road network in the area, the chief have urged the government and the road minister to fix deteriorating roads in Nyamekrom to make economic activities thrive.

He bemoaned the state of the roads and urged the government to act quickly since the poor condition of the roads was endangering the lives of drivers and pedestrians.

A resident who goes by the name of Mandela pleaded with the authorities to give them access to fundamental social amenities in an interview with Afeema News.

The homeowner bemoaned the high unemployment rate and the absence of essential amenities such permanent drinkable water, restrooms, roads, and sewers.

Mendela fiercely expressed his dissatisfaction with Nyamekrom’s citizens’ complete lack of access to social amenities.
