The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has tasked his campaign and manifesto teams with carrying out their responsibilities with unity in order to secure victory in the general election of 2024.
In order for the party to win the elections, he continued, all of its members have to work together to stay united and offer what they can to the mission.
“We are very aware that one of the keys to victory for NPP in 2024 is unity. It’s the most important key to victory. And so, putting together these committees we have taken cognizance, listening to advice of our elders to make sure that we do not leave anyone behind,” during his formal unveiling of the committees on Wednesday, February 28, in Accra, the vice-president stated.
Former Minister of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development Dan Botwe is the chair of the campaign committee, while Suame Member of Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is in charge of the manifesto committee.
Dr. Bawumia stated that the NPP had all the necessary components to prevail in the elections on December 7, demonstrating that the party has the vision and message to lead the nation toward economic expansion.
He clarified that the party has fared better in every area since taking government in 2017 than its principal rival, the National Democratic Congress.
“In terms of record, our record is superior, and we are going to put it out there for public scrutiny,” he said, adding that the vision of the party had been “clearly laid out and it will be reinforced by the manifesto”.
“We know where we want to take the country. We have the vision, and we have the idea, and we are trying to implement them,” he added.
The vice-president said the National Democratic Congress had a “very blurred vision that they really don’t know where they want to take us that they are announcing promises of things that we have already done”.
Dr Bawumia said the formation and inauguration of the campaign and manifesto teams indicated the party’s commitment to hit the campaign ground running.
“We have not wasted time in putting together our campaign team, we have not wasted time in putting together our manifesto teams and we are not going to waste any time in getting to campaign around the country,” he stated.
According to Botwe, the campaign committee chairman, the team’s objective was to carry out a campaign that would secure the NPP a majority seat in Parliament and elect its nominee to lead the country for the ensuing four years.
In order to do that, he gave the Party’s leadership and flagbearer his word that they would cooperate in an orderly and coordinated manner.
In addition, he said that in order to guarantee a successful campaign, they will make use of all internal and external resources.
