One person regarded to be the main suspect in the Wa murder case has been detained by the police.
After considerable coordination between the Police and community search groups, suspect Kankani Adongo was taken into custody today, Monday, September 19, 2022, at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa.
The suspect is in jail and will stand trial after being arraigned.
Following the most recent purported accusations of killings and disappearances, Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare invaded Wa, Upper West Region, earlier today.
The IGP met the regional minister and paid a visit to the Palace of the Overload of the Wa Traditional Area while being accompanied by other senior officers.
He will stay in the area for a while and visit other towns while there.
The IGP’s visit is anticipated to improve police morale and reassure the populace that law enforcement is prepared to defend them.
In addition to the IGP’s presence, the Police administration has told the residents of Wa and the surrounding area that it has recognized their security concerns and has taken steps to support the Regional Police Command in bolstering security to ensure the safety of everyone in the Metropolis.
Under the direction of the Director-General of Operations, special purpose investigation and intelligence teams, as well as more police visibility and crime combat teams, have been sent to Wa in this respect.
The police reaffirmed their promise to the general public that they would keep pursuing their goal of safeguarding the safety and security of everyone in the nation.
