Those found guilty in the Operation Retrieve All Loot (ORAL) investigations will be arraigned in court next month, according to Attorney-General and Justice Minister Dr. Dominic Ayine.
At a news conference on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Accra, Dr. Ayine revealed that he will meet on Friday, February 14, to conclude preparations for the prosecutions with the technical team examining the ORAL records, which is headed by Justice Srem Sai, the deputy attorney-general designate.
“We are carefully reviewing the documents to ensure that we have airtight cases.
Once this process is completed, we will commence legal proceedings in earnest,” he said.
The ORAL Committee has received more than 2,400 complaints.
It was previously disclosed by the Operation Retrieve All Loot (ORAL) Committee that 2,417 complaints from both individuals and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) had been received.
This information was revealed by Committee Chairman Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Monday, February 10, 2025, when he gave President John Dramani Mahama the team’s final report.
“We received 1,493 complaints via the toll-free line and an additional 924 emails. All calls have been recorded, and the emails preserved for verification and validation,” he noted.
Mr. Ablakwa questioned what the complainants would have done if the President had not started the ORAL process, underscoring the committee’s crucial role.
“The 2,417 complaints received provide indisputable evidence for those who questioned the need for this action. “If President Mahama hadn’t established the ORAL preparatory team, where would these people have gone?” he said.
With court proceedings scheduled to start in March, the ORAL program is a component of the government’s larger efforts to fight corruption and recoup embezzled public cash.
