John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a potential flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has entrusted the party’s national executives with organizing free and fair presidential elections so that the party can end its eight-year political curse.
He thinks that the party will only succeed if free and fair presidential elections are held.
He issued a warning that an unfair primary would reduce the party’s ability to hold onto power.
This decision was reached by the former trade and industry minister when he turned in his nomination form at the NPP headquarters in Accra.
The party’s rank and file is aware of the leader who will enable the party to “break the eight” and support NPP’s own success, he continued.
“We are not looking for a flagbearer but a candidate who will win and has the vision to modernise the party and respond to the critical challenges of jobs, and unity of the party for 2024,” he stressed.
He pleaded with the delegates to support Alan in November as the people of Ghana are asking them to.
“So if the process is skewed in favor of a particular candidate, it will be worrying for the party,” he said.
In addition to some Members of Parliament, including Sylvester Tetteh of Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom and Daniel Ansah Opoku of Mpraeso, former General Secretary Kwabena Ohene Ntow, and former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Nii Ayikoi Otoo, Mr. Kyerematen was accompanied by the Minister of Railways Development, Peter Amewu.
Speaking to the media after submitting his nomination paperwork, Mr. Kyerematen stated that it would be an honor for him to lead the NPP to ‘break the eight’ for the party.
The former trades minister declared that he is certain to win the forthcoming primary.
“It is with great pleasure that I present to you my duly filled nomination forms to run for the flagbearership of our great party.
In December 2024, I will have the honor and privilege of leading this great party to a historic triumph and ushering Ghana into a new age of stability, growth, and prosperity, he said.
