On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to recommence the mediation process to settle the ongoing Bawku dispute between the two parties.
To address the Bawku unrest, the Asantehene stated in a statement released on April 15, 2025, that the mediation sessions will be held at his palace in Kumasi from April 28 to May 1.
As part of national attempts to bring peace back to the troubled region, President John Mahama promised that the peace process headed by the Asantehene would continue.
Many Ghanaians, particularly those in the less fortunate sections of society (women and children) in Bawku and the neighbourhood, who suffer the most from such disruptions, hope that the Asantehene’s mediation process would result in a long-term resolution to the dispute.
