The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed back some 6,000 young politicians from throughout the nation who had earlier defected to join Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change.

The group, led by Alfred Ababio Kumi, a former NPP parliamentary candidate and candidates for Adentan, acknowledged that it was a mistake to leave the NPP.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, Mr. Ababio Kumi officially admitted their blunder and reaffirmed his support for the NPP flagbearer during a news conference in Accra.

“It has become evidently clear that we made a mistake; a mistake that we humbly admit and are ready to work to ensure that its dire effect is reversed or averted.

“Since the February 7, 2024 speech by the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, we have been asking ourselves questions that bother on the future of this country and the very Ghana that we young people want,” he said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has come under fire from the Nationwide Supporters of Alan Cash (NAWSAC) for reportedly trying to buy off young people into joining the NPP and giving up on supporting Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change.

NAWSAC raised alarm over the NPP’s deceptive methods in a statement made on Monday, April 22, 2024, and advised youngsters not to be persuaded by money inducements.

Luther-King Junior, the group’s organizer, emphasized that young people are resolved to stick by their principles and support Alan Kyerematen’s leadership since they are disenchanted with the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to their deceptive actions.
