The government’s spokesperson for security and governance, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has formally declared his intention to run in the parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He intends to contest for the Abuakwa North Constituency seat.

“The portals for forms were opened so I went through the process, did some submissions and I’m going through the endorsement process.”

Palgrave Boakye-Danquah announced that he would follow the remaining procedures, run for office, and eventually hope to be selected to lead the party in the 2024 elections.

He has been actively involved in party affairs for the past few years. Speaking with Original TV, he shared his vision and stated that the time had come for the constituency to have an MP who was concerned with the welfare of the people, who could support and meet the needs of the grassroots in order to guarantee that the party would receive more votes in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He claimed that what set him apart was his “commitment, discipline, accessibility and capability” in providing the party with a variety of forms of support.

“My key vision for contesting for the position of the Member of Parliament in Abuakwa North Constituency is to help migrate our small holders’ farmers into big players in the agribusiness by investing in farm inputs and sophisticated farm implements to boost their yields and ultimately shore up their profits in the agribusiness. Whilst I will continue with providing more portable water to the various communities until each town and Hamlet in the Constituency is served, I will also provide community health clinics, vocational centers and school blocks to contribute to the quality human resource development in the area,” he said.

In order to select parliamentary candidates (PCs) in constituencies where the party currently has Members of Parliament (MPs) to run on the party ticket in the general election of 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold the last leg of its internal election on January 27, 2024.

In those constituencies, the nomination period for prospective parliamentary candidates will begin on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, and end on Monday, December 25, 2023.
