As part of its oversight duties, the Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary has visited the Judicial Service.

Hon. Joseph Frempong, the Committee’s Chairman, advised the Judicial Service to avoid political meddling so that it can successfully handle internal issues.

Instead than supporting a small number of people inside the judiciary, he stressed the importance of unity, cooperation, and equal opportunity for all. He emphasized the vital role that the judiciary plays in preserving justice and national stability by saying, “If the courts fail, then we have no future.”

The members of the committee also encouraged the Service to ensure that all individuals seeking legal redress have access to due process.

They commended the Judicial Service for its achievements in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) cases but called for greater effort.

Since ADR is still one of the quickest ways to settle conflicts, the Committee also advised the Service to improve the fairness and transparency of its recruitment procedure and give suitable candidates additional ADR training opportunities.
