A major victory for the party has been achieved by Bernard Mornah, the winner of the People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearer contest.

On September 7, 2024, at the UDS Guest House in Accra, representatives from the Electoral Commission made the official announcement of his victory.

Mornah received a dominating 1,138 votes at the party’s congress, which was called to elect flagbearer in advance of the general elections in December.

David Apasera, his opponent, received 216 votes in the race.

Mornah reached out to Apasera in his victory speech, asking him to cooperate in order to bolster the party’s standing in the general elections. He emphasized that for the PNC to succeed politically, unity is essential.

Despite an injunction filed by Apasera’s camp that originally caused the congress to be postponed, the party was able to overcome the issue and allow the event to go on without any more complications.
