Police arrest suspect in Obuasi funeral shooting incident

A thirty-year-old man has been arrested by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command for shooting and wounding an Adansi Dompoase traditional ruler during a burial in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, police officers on duty heard a gunshot and quickly stepped in to disarm and apprehend the offender, who was identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa.

Police found an unregistered single barrel gun loaded with ammunition from the suspect during the arrest.

The victim has now been treated and discharged. Meanwhile, the suspect is in custody and will be taken before the court to face punishment.
