Police arrest two more suspects in the Nsoatre football match clash – IGP

George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has announced that five people have been arrested in connection with a violent altercation between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC supporters that resulted in one fatality.

The Ghanaian football community is deeply concerned by the tragedy, which happened on Sunday, February 2.

Akuffo Dampare reassured the deceased’s family during a news conference in Accra on Wednesday, February 5, that the police are committed to making sure the guilty are held accountable.

He emphasized that in order to establish responsibility, officials are aggressively looking for additional suspects related to the murder.

More evidence is being gathered as part of the ongoing police investigation into the incident.

The dead has been identified as Asante Kotoko FC supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong.

Fredrick Acheampong, an Executive Member of the Ghana Football Association, denounced the unfortunate incidents that transpired at the same event.

In order to avoid similar incidents in the future, he emphasized the importance of giving stadium security first priority during league games.

Acheampong also praised the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to keep people safe and secure during athletic events, highlighting the value of teamwork in allowing supporters to watch games without worrying about their safety.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to restore peace and security in the community.
