On August 15, 2024, armed police officers were sent to Sepe in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in order to carry out a court judgment that required them to remove squatters from a sizable area of land that belonged to the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).

Situated in close proximity to the Agenda 111 Hospital project site, the property has been inhabited for many years by truck drivers, mechanics, and other residents who constructed temporary facilities such as churches and makeshift residences.

Numerous families with small children have been among the squatters who have persisted in living and working on the land, even after receiving eviction letters from the GACL as early as February.

The situation descended into chaos during the demolition exercise, as families frantically gathered their possessions and bailiffs protected by armed police moved to vacate the area.

Many locals are shocked and confused by the abrupt nature of the operation.
