Police and soldiers have been sent to the Ghana Gas Company’s offices in Accra after a heated altercation amongst angry young people.

The deployment coincides with claims that fights with security forces occurred when the supposed supporters tried to storm the premises.

In an attempt to keep things under control and stop the situation from getting worse, there is a significant military presence.

Former Ghana Free Zones Authority Chief Executive Officer Kwadwo Twum Boafo, who resides in the neighborhood, said that some locals approached him about the incident.

The offenders, in his opinion, are NDC supporters.

“You are not helping president-elect Mahama with this kind of conduct” he advised the youth.

“President Mahama is even yet to take office, so let’s not create more problems for him than he has to solve.”

“You’ve taken your time for 8 years, don’t mess it up now” Mr Boafo added.

Security personnel fired warning shots to disperse the gathering after witnesses said they attempted to force their way into the GNGCL offices.

The reason for the attempted entry is still unknown, and authorities have not yet released an official comment about the incident.

As security forces attempt to stabilize the scene, the situation is being closely watched.
