Kurt Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has made a heartfelt plea for anyone with knowledge to come forward and help identify the individual who killed Yaw Frimpong, commonly known as Nana Pooley.

The tragedy and its effects on Ghanaian football were discussed by GFA President Kurt Okraku during his first meeting with Asante Kotoko since Pooley’s untimely death. He called for anyone who saw the deadly stabbing to come forward with information, stressing the importance of justice.

“When that tragic act occurred in Nsoatre, there was someone present with the person who took Nana Pooley’s life. That person must be honest with football and reveal the killer’s identity. It’s a painful moment, but also an opportunity to make a positive impact on our game,” Okraku stated.

In his speech, Okraku also recognized the ongoing difficulties Ghanaian football faces and emphasized the need for patience, time, and a substantial financial commitment to overcome them.

“As I have always stated, the process of changing our football is difficult, and we are currently going through one of our most trying times. However, we’ll overcome it,” he continued.

As excitement mounts for the Ghana Premier League’s comeback, Asante Kotoko has resumed training. Concerns about hooliganism led to the league’s suspension, with Kotoko and Hearts of Oak leading the charge for tougher regulations to address violence in the sport.
