Benjamin Barfo-Bonney, Esq. has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) by Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in Jubilee House, Accra’s seat of government, on Wednesday, December 11 at 5:00 p.m.
The invitation was sent to Joseph Akanjolenur Whittal, Commissioner of CHRAJ, in a statement signed by Kow Abaka Essuman, Esq., Acting Secretary to the President and Legal Counsel to the President.
In addition, the President wished him well and encouraged him to make the most of the chance. “You have my full support and that of my government as you embark on this new chapter,” he remarked.
High-ranking officials also received copies of the letter, including the Vice President, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, the Director of State Protocol at the State Protocol Department, and the Chief of Staff at Jubilee House.
This development demonstrates the President’s commitment to promoting administrative justice and protecting human rights in Ghana.
The nomination of Benjamin Barfo-Bonney is anticipated to enhance the Commission’s expertise, thereby fostering accountability and safeguarding people’ fundamental rights.
Benjamin Barfo-Bonney, Esq. responded by also accepting his position in good faith.
“I would do it with humility, respect, decency and professionalism. I will never forget this opportunity as I see it as a turning point in my profession and academic career,” Mr Barfo-Bonney replied.
