The President characterized the triumph as well-earned but hard-fought.

On Monday, November 28, 2022, in the Education City Stadium, Ghana defeated South Korea to win their first match of the current Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
South Korea lost against the Black Stars 3-2.
The African team led by two goals to zero in the first half, but a South Korean comeback after the interval halted the euphoria of the visiting supporters.
After 61 minutes, Cho Gue-sung, the leading scorer in his domestic league, leveled the match with two headers in three minutes.
Ghana’s third goal was added by Ajax striker Mohammed Kudus, who had earlier headed in Jordan Ayew’s cross to give the West Africans the lead.
With a header in the 24th minute, Mohammed Salisu gave Ghana the early lead.
Even after the referee added a further 10 minutes of play, South Korea continued to have opportunities, but Ghana managed to hold on.
By the end of the game Mohammed Kudus won the Man of the Match for the first time.
While South Korea plays Portugal, Ghana’s final group game will be against Uruguay.
